Financial Services Compensation Scheme selects Republic of Media for appointment.
The Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS) has chosen the independent agency Republic of Media for its strategic media planning and buying account after a competitive pitch process. Based in Manchester, Republic of Media is set to focus initially on the FSCS’s “Pensions protection” campaign. This campaign, active since 2021, encourages consumers to ensure their pensions are secure in the event of their providers’ failure.
Republic of Media will be taking over from UM London, which has been managing the account since 2012. UM London successfully retained the account during reviews in 2015 and again in 2018, with its contract concluding in September 2019.
The FSCS collaborates with Four Agency for its creative campaigns, aiming to address overconfidence in financial service providers and guide consumers towards using the scheme’s Pensions Checker tool.
Emilie Cumming, marketing lead at FSCS, expressed enthusiasm for the partnership with Republic of Media, highlighting the agency’s energy, collaborative spirit, and innovative approach as key factors in the decision. Cumming also extended gratitude to The Aperto Partnership for their guidance during the pitch process.
Leigh Herbert, director of client services at Republic of Media, shared the excitement about the appointment, emphasizing the significance of the campaign’s message for UK consumers and acknowledging the severe impact of financial loss when financial providers and advisers fail.
The selection process was facilitated through the Crown Commercial Service’s Lot 2 framework, underscoring a highly professional approach to the pitch. Established in 2001, the FSCS is a statutory body financed by levies on authorized companies and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority, playing a critical role in protecting consumers’ financial interests.
